Process

The Design Process for Landscape Architecture is impressive. When you hire a Landscape Architect, you hire someone with your interests in mind. Landscape Architects are trained to be sensitive to the world around them and to the client’s needs.  GardenBleu has been through the process and is looking forward to working on your unique garden design.

The Construction Documentation (CD) phase begins after the client approves the final design of the landscape and hardscape elements. The CD set includes layout plans, grading plans, hardscape plans and details, planting plans, lighting, irrigation and any specialty plans that may be needed to convey the original design.

The CD’s are technical drawings that are distributed to the builder and various contractors and are used directly for building the project. Any discrepancies are coordinated with the Landscape Architect.

Construction Documents are also used for bidding and cost estimating. Adjustments can be made to make the design more budget-friendly at this point if necessary

After adjusting the CD set, the Construction Phase begins. The Landscape Architectís role is to observe construction to be sure that the project is being built according to the plans. Making frequent site visits and coordination with the general Contractor are common during this phase.

The Landscape Architect makes a final inspection once the Construction phase is finished. If there are any unfinished details, they will be noted and coordinated with the General Contractor. After addressing any outstanding items, the garden is yours to enjoy!
